Believe it or not, but yes, you can eat pancakes to detoxify your body! A truly nourishing way to start your day is by preparing these buckwheat pancakes.

Freshly ground buckwheat and chia seeds make up the base of these pancakes. These whole food ingredients provide valuable fiber for clearing and cleansing your digestive tract. They will feed your body and power it up for the day.

By adjusting the amount of water you use to mix with, you can make these pancakes thick and hearty, or thin and flexible.

There are several delicious ways to eat these pancakes. Generally maple syrup is the choice for topping your pancakes. But did you know that by using coconut oil and 100% grade B maple syrup together provides more rich vitamins and minerals? Grade B maple syrup is less refined so more nutrients are still in the syrup.

Almond butter and just a touch of agave nectar are delicious as well. And, of course, fresh berries in season are always awesome on top of pancakes. All fruit jellies are also a good choice in toppings.

Ingredients:

2 cups – buckwheat groats

1/2 cup – rice flour

1 teaspoon – chia seeds

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon – cinnamon

1 tablespoon – maple syrup

3 cups water or more for desired consistency

Coconut oil for skillet

100% grade B maple syrup to top ’em off

 

Directions:

  1. Grind buckwheat groats in a food processor or blender until they turn into flour.
  2. Grind chia seeds into a fine powder using a clean coffee or spice grinder.
  3. Combine all dry ingredients
  4. Add wet ingredients and stir until smooth. The batter should be somewhat thin like regular pancake batter.

Heat skillet well. Melt coconut oil in the skillet and pour batter in as you normally would to make pancakes.
